Behavior Support Specialist, Colchester
Responsibilities include: Promote the program-wide implementation of the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children; conduct child and classroom observations and assess teaching practices; support, mentor, coach and consult with teachers and teaching teams to assess and improve general classroom management and child behavior support practices; promote family engagement and involvement around classroom and home-based behavioral supports for children; maintain program compliance with regulations and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, human services, or related field. Experience working in early childhood education environments, using a team-based approach to supporting children and their families. Knowledge of the Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children (or Early MTSS/PBIS) and ability to support program-wide implementation of recommended practices. Demonstrated knowledge of positive discipline and behavior support techniques, and trauma-informed care principles. Previous experience as a mentor or practice-based coach is a plus. Full time (40 hours/week) during the school year and 20 hours/week for 9 weeks during the summer. Heath plan and excellent benefits.
