Champlain Valley Head Start

Contribute Items / Our Wish List

There are a number of items on the Champlain Valley Head Start Wish List.  Please note that CVHS only accepts donated goods if they are new items or gift cards, and CVHS can no longer accept any used items.  Please refer to our wish list when making your choices!  Please contact Julie Springer at (802) 651-4180 ext. 215, or jspringer@cvoeo.org, to discuss logistics before making your donation.

  • New digital cameras:  Pictures allow us to document the growth and development of each child, as well as to show the child’s family what’s been happening in the classroom.  When a child “graduates” from Head Start, these pictures (along with some of the child’s artwork and teacher comments) are given to the family as a memento of the child’s experiences in the Head Start program.
  • New CD Players:  For classroom and group socialization activities.
  • New outdoor play equipment:  We love sleds, wagons, doll carriages and playground balls.
  • New books:  We read a lot!  Teachers, volunteers, parents and kids spend a lot of time each day with books.  They are well-loved, well-used, and need replacing now and then.
    • Board books for babies and toddlers
    • Picture books for preschoolers
    • Audio books on CD for preschoolers
    • Scholastic Book Club Gift Cards
  • New music CDs:  All types of music are appreciated, from quiet, relaxing music (naptime), to bouncy dance tunes (great for gross motor fun when we’re inside on a rainy day).
  • New and wrapped toothbrushes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers:  Toothbrushing takes place every day at all of our sites.  With over 300 children enrolled in Head Start, we use a lot of toothbrushes!
  • New preschool-sized backpacks:  Preschoolers love getting their very own backpack.  What better place could there be to put the art projects which they made that day?  Backpacks are also great for bringing an extra change of clothes to preschool, or sending books and materials home to families.

If you have items to donate, other than those listed above, we encourage you to call Vermont’s 2-1-1 telephone information line.  2-1-1 operators will connect you with social service organizations in your area which are in need of your donation.
