CVHS Early Head Start Program Options

    
Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children from birth to age three and their families.  All Early Head Start program options provide information, resources and referrals around the full array of early education, health, parenting, family service supports, and services to children with special needs.

CVHS has a small Early Head Start program (30 slots), with the following program options:

Full-day / Full-year childcare centers:  Infants and toddlers receive warm, nurturing care, and early childhood development services, in a local childcare center five full days each week, year-round.  Children and families enrolled in these options also receive monthly contacts with an Early Head Start Early Care Advocate and home visits twice per year.  This program may be ideal for families with parents who work or attend school full time, and are in need of full day infant/toddler care.  CVHS offers this program option in collaboration with Champlain Islands Parent Child Center in South Hero, and with Bristol Family Center.  

Home-based program:  Participants enrolled in this program (pregnant women, or families with infants or toddlers) receive one, 90-minute home visit per week with an Early Head Start Home Visitor and take part in playgroup activities twice per month. The Early Head Start program runs year round.  This program may be ideal for pregnant women in need of additional support to assure access to quality prenatal and postpartum care, and to support a healthy birth experience for mother, child and family.  This program may also be ideal for families with infants or toddlers who desire more one-on-one, individualized service with a Home Visitor, and support around using the home as a learning environment to support optimal health and child development.  CVHS offers this program option in collaboration with Lund Family Center in Burlington, and throughout Franklin County.
