for Head Start and Early Head Start Families

Champlain Valley Head Start works with a variety of organizations throughout northwest Vermont, and statewide, to assure high quality services to children and families.  The following are a few of the Community Resources most commonly used by Champlain Valley Head Start families.

For the most up-to-date and comprehensive list of resources available in Vermont, visit vermont211.org or call 2-1-1 from anywhere inVermont.  2-1-1 staff can help refer you to government programs, community-based organizations, support groups, and other local resources.  A local call from anywhere in Vermont, service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with live interpretation services for 170 languages.

Basic Needs 

  • Public BenefitsMyBenefits.vt.gov is the official State of Vermont website for public benefits such as food stamps (called 3SquaresVT), Essential Person, Fuel Assistance, Reach Up, and state health insurance programs.
  • Child Care Financial Assistance Program (Child Care Subsidy): For information about help paying for child care, visit the website for the VT Dept. for Children and Families, Child Care Financial Assistance or you can download a brochure.
  • Housing: For a directory of housing organizations in Vermont, please visit the website for the Housing Division of the VT Dept. of Housing & Community Affairs or you can download a brochure.

Education and Employment

  • Adult Education, Family Literacy, and Employment Skills Training: Vermont Adult Learning provides services to all Out-of-School Vermonters age 16 and above to help develop essential skills to improve employment and education options.  For more information, please visit the website for VT Adult Learning.
