Statistics and Annual Reports

Champlain Valley Head Start is proud to showcase statistics and data regarding our outstanding program.  Under the provisions contained in the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, Head Start programs are required to make available to the public a report published at least once in each fiscal year that sets forth information in several specific categories.  Click here to download Champlain Valley Head Start’s most recent Annual Public Report.

Cumulative enrollment

During the course of a year, some children and families enroll and then move out of state or leave the program for other reasons.  During the 2010-2011 program year, CVHS served a cumulative total of:

  • 393 preschool children and their families; and
  • 44 pregnant women, infants, toddlers and their families.

Child outcomes and school readiness 2010-2011

    • Child outcomes were assessed for three collection periods (fall, winter, and spring) during the 2010-2011 program year.
    • Data shows an increase in children’s “proficiency” ratings in all domains of learning and school readiness.  On average for all eight domains, children went from a proficiency rate of 30% in the fall to 61% in the spring, with the greatest increase in the area of Math (36% increase).
    • CVHS uses child outcomes data to inform curriculum development and classroom and home visit observations, as well as staff professional development, resource allocation and individualization for children.

  • In the area of oral health, CVHS continued its upward trend in assuring that children completed dental exams, and those children in need of dental treatment received or are receiving dental treatment.
